Following the extremely challenging 2012 harvest, 2013 has proved to be a much better year for the potato industry, relatively speaking.

The cold start in spring has resulted in an average year for yields, but favourable harvesting conditions up to mid- October has meant most growers have been able to get the bulk of their crop harvested and into store.

“We have managed to harvest all our potatoes this year and have good quality potatoes in store” says Director Colin Bradley.

However the cost of growing continues to rise and this together with supply versus demand, being in equilibrium, prices remain strong in the marketplace.
