2012 has turned out to be the worst potato harvest in the UK for over 30 years.

The late  spring coupled with continuing cold and wet growing /harvesting conditions has resulted in a fall in UK crop production from 6.2 mill tonnes in 20111 to 4.5 mill tonnes in 2012. In addition the area planted in 2012 from the previous year.

FF&F Director Colin Bradley says ” This is unprecedented compared to any other potato year I have been growing. Our yields are down 30-35% and we still have crop left in the ground”

FF&F is endeavouring to maintain potato supply for existing customers by procurring potatoes specific to individusl needs. “We believe we can maintain supply but of course we are working in a very volatile market” says David Linton.
