Agria

Agria

Agria

Agria is a premium potato variety that normally drives a higher variety cost: Produces crispy, golden chips with fluffy interiors — highly sought-after by quality chip shops and processors.

Market demand drives price up. Limited Supply Compared to Demand, Agria is a maincrop variety with a longer growing season than early types. It’s also not grown as widely as mass-market varieties like Maris Piper. This supply-and-demand imbalance contributes to a higher price per tonne.

Higher Growing Costs, Agria needs specific conditions for best results: Fertile, well-drained soils, Careful nitrogen management, Can be more sensitive to disease (e.g. late blight) than some robust varieties, meaning higher input costs.

Excellent Storage & Frying Post-Storage, Agria stores well and retains excellent fry quality even after months in storage. This makes it attractive year-round for processors, which adds value.

Versatility in High-End Markets, Used not only for chips but also in crisps and wedges due to its texture and colour. Premium reputation boosts price among buyers who want reliable quality.
