High Price Potato Season

FFF Director David Linton explains the key reasons for the high prices for potatoes this season

2016/17 Potato Season is proving one of the most challenging for potato supply and high prices

This is result of the following:-

*             Below normal UK crop yields

*             Below average production in Northern Europe

*             Fall in value of sterling

*             Increased export demand for potatoes

*             Imported processed potatoes and chips have  increased in price

*             Increased demand for UK produced peeled potatoes and chips

As such the cost of potatoes is significantly more than normal for his time of year.( see weekly average free buy prices )

The result is the necessity to increase Triple F Chips prices .
